CNN, MS NOW and Politico to sue to restore White House access

CNN, MS NOW and Politico announced Monday that the news organizations will be filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration over President Trump's ban of the news outlets from the White House, arguing the ban was unconstitutional on First Amendment grounds.

Mr. Trump said Friday in a Truth Social post that he was barring CNN, MS Now, and Politico from the White House, in the Trump administration's latest move to target news outlets for what he views as disfavorable coverage.

In a joint statement on Monday, the three news organizations said they are suing to immediately restore access after they were denied entry on Saturday and had their press passes revoked.

"There could not be a more direct assault on the First Amendment," the legal motion from the news organizations said. "Presidents from the earliest days of the Republic have disagreed with and complained about the tenor and content of press coverage of their administrations."

The lawsuit is asking a Washington, D.C., judge to move quickly to prevent further action from the White House on the ban. CNN is scheduled to be traveling with the president on Monday…
