The Seattle Seahawks have lost one of their veteran receivers, Jake Bobo, long-term because of a knee injury.

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald announced Bobo suffered the injury during the team’s joint practice with the Tennessee Titans on Friday, Aug. 21.

“Heart goes out to Jake Bobo,” Macdonald told reporters. “Seems like it’s gonna be a serious knee.”

Macdonald declined to provide specifics about the nature of Bobo’s injury but noted the 28-year-old receiver would have the malady further evaluated.

“We’re gonna get it imaged, but early returns – looks like it’s a long-term injury,” Macdonald said. “So it’s unfortunate.”

Bobo’s injury occurred after he landed awkwardly while trying to make a catch on the sideline at Friday’s practice, according to multiple reporters. He had to be carted off the field as a result of the injury.

Bobo has been with the Seahawks since signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He has generated 34 career catches for 323 yards and three touchdowns; he had just two catches during the 2025 regular season but did reel in a touchdown grab in Seattle’s 31-27 NFC championship game win over the Los Angeles Rams.

The Seahawks thought well enough of Bobo to match a two-year, $5.5 million offer sheet he inked with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a restricted free agent.

Macdonald spoke glowingly of the 6-4, 211-pound pass-catcher during his Friday media availability and noted the team “said a prayer for him” after he went down with his injury.

“He’s a beast. Just a great football player, great Seahawk,” Macdonald said of Bobo. “I think, hopefully we reflected that in our investment in him, but we love him. We’ll be there beside him as he recovers, and pray it’s a speedy recovery. But we love him, man.”

Bobo was expected to be one of Seattle’s top backup receivers in 2026 behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed and Cooper Kupp. Now, Tory Horton, Cody White and sixth-round rookie Emmanuel Henderson Jr. will jockey for the positioning on Seattle’s depth chart.
