3 dead, 4 injured after shooting at Detroit ‘after-hours’ spot

Three people are dead and four others are injured after a Sept. 27 shooting at an "after-hours" location in Detroit, authorities said.

"A fight occurred, an altercation occurred, and as a result, individuals decided to settle it with gun violence," Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said at a news conference on Sept. 27. Authorities received a 911 call at 7:22 a.m. local time.

Bettison said the men who died were 30 and older. Four more people — two men and two women — in their 20s and 30s went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Bettison said the address was known to the Detroit Police Department, which had received seven calls there this year. He said the department was also investigating the address.

"I'm being told that it was an after-hours location," Bettison said. "Imagine a strip club … and I'll leave it at that."

He also said: "I can tell you regardless of what was occurring in this particular location, no one deserves to have their life ended or be wounded by gunfire.
