Monday’s Powerball jackpot jumps to $389 million

The Powerball jackpot is climbing again.

After no ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday night's drawing, the jackpot for Monday, Sept. 28, grew to an estimated $389 million, with a cash option of $161.9 million. The latest prize comes just weeks after an Illinois player won a massive $1.04 billion jackpot, ending one of the game's longest recent stretches without a winner.

Now, Powerball players have another chance to chase a life-changing payout when the next drawing takes place Monday night

USA TODAY will post the winning numbers after the lottery drawing at 10:59 p.m. ET.

The next Powerball drawing will take place on Wednesday, September 30, at around 10:59 p.m. ET. The drawing can be watched live on Powerball's website, and players can rewatch clips on its YouTube channel.

Powerball drawings occur every week on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Depending on local laws, players may also be able to purchase tickets online.
