\n\nA man was hospitalized after being shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in New York City's Marble Hill neighborhood on Thursday, according to the Department of Homeland Security and New York City officials.
\n\nThe shooting occurred at about 4 p.m. local time near West 225th Street and Marble Hill Avenue.
\n\nOfficials said he was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
\n\nThe NYPD was not involved in the shooting, the department said.
\n\nVideo from the scene showed numerous law enforcement personnel present. A gray vehicle with a bullet hole in the windshield could be seen in the middle of the road.
\n\nTwo law enforcement sources told CBS News that preliminary information indicated ICE agents were attempting to take someone into custody when another male, who was not the target of the arrest, was shot.
\n\nDHS, ICE's parent agency, said in a statement that officers were conducting a targeted enforcement operation to arrest a man from the Dominican Republic who they allege was living in the United States illegally.
