Cruise passengers considering a sunny sailing in the Caribbean may want to go ahead and book their cabins.

Mainstream cruise lines are offering deals in the region amid increased capacity and softer demand, according to Patrick Scholes, a lodging and leisure analyst with Truist Securities. “I would call it at least a modest supply-demand imbalance – an unfavorable one – right now,” he told USA TODAY.

\n\n

That doesn't necessarily mean every cruise is going to cost less, though. Here’s travelers should know before making their reservations.

\n\n

Cruise lines launched many ships in 2026, with an approximately 9% year-over-year increase in supply across the industry, Scholes noted. Some operators such as Norwegian Cruise Line repositioned ships to the Caribbean.

\n\n

MSC Cruises also redeployed the more than 6,700-passenger MSC World Europa away from the Middle East after the war with Iran began in February. The ship will sail in the Caribbean for the winter season, replacing the nearly 5,100-passenger MSC Seaview, which the cruise line will send to South America, according to a news release.
