Country music star Colt Ford is speaking out about a tour bus accident that he said left him with a broken shoulder.

The “Farmboy” singer, 56, shared details in an Aug. 12 Instagram post, writing that “one minute” he and his crew were headed to a show in Germany and preparing for a single release. “The next thing,” Ford wrote, “your bus is in the ditch.”

“And you’re getting pulled through a windshield with a broken shoulder by First Responders,” Ford said. “The crew is a little banged up but we’re all still here.”

The post also included a photo of the scene, showing the vehicle in a grassy ditch beside the road.

Ford’s next show is scheduled to take place at Tailgate X in Ballenstedt, Germany, on Aug. 15 followed by a performance at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on Aug. 19. It is unclear whether the accident will affect either show.

Ford was met with an outpouring of love and support from fans, including fellow peers Tracy Byrd and Drew Baldridge.

“Dang, brother. Glad y’all are OK, but a broken shoulder, not the break you needed. Prayers for a quick recovery, hang in there, bud,” Byrd said.

Baldridge wrote: “Dang, man. So glad y’all are OK.”

Colt Ford says he survived near-fatal heart attack in 2024

Ford’s accident comes two years after he suffered a near-fatal heart attack at a show in Gilbert, Arizona.

“I couldn’t have been anymore on death’s door. I died twice that day,” Ford told Mayo Clinic. “When one of the top heart doctors in the world looks at you and goes, ‘You’re 1% of 1%,’ it can’t get more dire than that.”

In an April 2024 appearance on the “Big D & Bubba” radio show, the musician revealed he has no recollection of his set at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row. He remembered walking back to the bus and texting his then-fiancée, Megan, before he was found slumped over in a chair.

Colt Ford performs at Skydeck at Assembly Food Hall on Aug. 17, 2023, in Nashville.

Ford went into cardiac arrest twice, once at the venue, and then again on the way to another hospital. Colt also underwent a 10-hour surgery and was placed in a medically induced coma for a time.

“I woke up eight days later, and I couldn’t pick up a cup with ice in it and feed it to myself,” he told the clinic.

Ford said the health scare was “life-changing, spiritually changing, and obviously physically changing.”

He added: “[The heart attack’s] changed my perspective and outlook on lots of things. I can’t even tell you. Live every day like it’s your last because one day it will be.”
