Phoebe Bridgers arrives at the 2023 GQ Men of the Year Awards at The Royal Opera House in London on Nov. 15, 2023.

Phoebe Bridgers could use all the birthday wishes you can spare.

The Grammy-winning indie pop singer, who turned 32 on Aug. 17, revealed she was hospitalized on her birthday after coming down with a case of appendicitis, according to a post on her Instagram stories Wednesday, Aug. 19.

“I got appendicitis for my birthday,” Bridgers wrote alongside a photo of herself lying in a hospital bed. The singer wore a black hoodie and appeared to be half-covered with a blanket.

Appendicitis is a condition that occurs when the appendix, a finger-shaped pouch attached to the colon and located on the lower right side of the abdomen, becomes inflamed, according to Mayo Clinic, and typically happens in people between the ages of 10 and 30. Aside from taking antibiotics, removal of the appendix via surgery is the most common treatment.

Bridgers’ health news comes less than a month before she’s set to kick off The Lost Tour, her first concert trek in three years, on Sept. 14. The tour is in support of her latest album, “Lost Weekend.”

Amid her recovery, the singer shared that she’s postponing her promotional events in the U.K, adding in a message to fans, “But I’ll make it up to you!!!!”

Over the years, Bridgers has become one of alternative music’s brightest stars, thanks to her folk-influenced sound and emotive songwriting. The singer made her musical debut in 2014 with the “Killer” EP, followed by her debut album “Stranger in the Alps” in 2017.

Her sophomore album, 2020’s “Punisher,” earned her four Grammy nominations, including best new artist and best rock performance (“Kyoto”).

Aside from her own music, Bridgers has also shared the mic with several top artists, performing features for Taylor Swift, The 1975‘s Matty Healy, The Killers, SZA, Kid Cudi and others.

And for her upcoming tour, the singer plans to keep things old school.

The Lost Tour, a 45-date global outing, is prohibiting fans from bringing cellphones and other electronic devices into the concerts.

According to a news release for the tour, all “phones, smart watches and accessories” will be secured in Yondr pouches that fans will have access to at all times upon arrival at the venue. Pouches will be unlocked at the end of the concert.
