Scottie Scheffler ties the course record with a 9-under 61
It’s a par at the last for Scheffler, who left a 16-footer a few inches short of the cup for birdie and will sign for a 9-under 61 that matches the course record at TPC Southwind.
Scheffler began his round with five straight birdies and added a sixth on the 7th hole, signaling we were in for a special round of golf. He did have a couple stumbles in his round with bogeys on the 8th and 12th holes, but in typical Scheffler fashion he quickly bounced back from those to keep his round moving forward and climb the leaderboard with some phenomenal ball-striking.
Scheffler gets into the clubhouse at 11 under, three shots ahead of Sungjae Im and four clear of Ludvig Åberg heading into the weekend. Scheffler is looking to snap his longest drought between wins in more than two years — 2023 Players to 2024 Arnold Palmer — and grab his second victory of the season.
