Social Security payments in September follow a normal schedule, with most payments to be sent starting September 9.

Social Security benefits, which are paid mostly to recipients who are older or retired, typically go out on Wednesdays. If your birthday falls between the first and 10th days of the month, your payment is scheduled to arrive on the second Wednesday of the month (for September, that is Sept. 9), according to the Social Security Administration’s calendar.

If you were born between the 11th and 20th, you get paid on the third Wednesday of the month (Sept. 16); those born after the 20th of the month are paid on the fourth Wednesday of the month (Sept. 23), according to the SSA calendar. Social Security recipients who began getting benefits before May 1997 are scheduled to be paid on Sept. 3.
