T.J. Maxx is set to open five new locations by the end of August, in addition to relocating two of its existing stores, according to the retailer.

Ernie Herrman, CEO of T.J. Maxx’s parent company TJX, announced in May 2024 a goal of opening at least 1,300 additional locations globally across the TJX portfolio of stores, which also includes Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra and HomeSense.

TJX touts itself as an “off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions.” According to its website, the first two T.J. Maxx stores opened in Massachusetts in 1977. TJX Companies was formed in 1987 and operates more than 5,200 stores in 10 countries. The company said in its first-quarter earnings report in May 2026 that it owned and operated 1,354 T.J. Maxx locations.

Where is T.J. Maxx opening new locations?

According to T.J. Maxx’s “Grand Openings” page, these locations are set to open by the end of the month:

• 2821 King Ave. West, Billings, Montana – Aug. 13
• 617 Hwy.-62 65 N, Harrison, Arkansas – Aug. 16
• 460 Mount Hood St., The Dalles, Oregon – Aug. 16
• 770 North Lee Hwy., Lexington, Virginia – Aug. 16
• 1254 East Ash St., Piqua, Ohio – Aug. 30

Additionally, two stores are set to reopen in new locations, including one in Massachusetts and one in Puerto Rico:

• 365 Massachusetts Ave., Acton, Massachusetts – New location opens Aug. 27
• Fragoso Ave. Villa Fontana, Carolina, Puerto Rico – New location opens Sept. 10
