The Powerball jackpot has officially reached $1 billion, giving lottery players a shot at one of the largest prizes in game history and, for the first time, drawing participants from both the United States and the United Kingdom.

No ticket matched all six numbers in the last drawing, pushing tonight’s jackpot to an estimated $1 billion, with a $433.1 million cash option. The prize ranks as the sixth-largest Powerball jackpot ever offered.

The historic jackpot comes as Powerball undergoes its biggest international expansion in years. U.K. players can now buy tickets and compete for the same grand prize, potentially adding millions of new participants as the game chases its first winner since May 2, when tickets sold in Texas and Florida split a $20 million jackpot.

Did anyone win the Powerball jackpot on Aug. 10?

No.

While no one matched all six numbers, several players still scored life-changing prizes.

A ticket sold in Tennessee matched all five white balls and the Power Play to win $2 million. Two additional tickets sold in California and Maryland matched all five white balls and won $1 million each, according to Powerball.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

The next Powerball drawing is set for Wednesday, Aug. 12, at approximately 10:59 p.m. ET, with the jackpot now standing at an estimated $1 billion. USA TODAY will update this story with the winning numbers shortly after the drawing.

How to play Powerball

In the U.S., Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Players choose five white ball numbers from 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number from 1 to 26. For an additional $1, players can add Power Play, which multiplies most non-jackpot prizes.

Anyone who meets the legal age requirement where tickets are sold can buy a ticket, regardless of U.S. citizenship or residency status.
