Jamie Lee Curtis is clearing the air after her candid comments about working on “New Girl” raised some eyebrows.

The “Freakier Friday” actress, who made several guest appearances on the hit Fox sitcom, clarified that she wasn’t criticizing the show or its cast when she recently described the experience of filming it as “awful” and “not fun.”

During an NBCUniversal panel conversation about her new show “Newlyweds” on Aug. 10, Curtis shared how she “hated” her experience filming “New Girl” with a single camera setup.

“It’s a great show, ‘New Girl,’ very funny, but doing it is just like doing a movie,” Curtis said. “You know, you’ve got a camera crew, and nobody laughs. It’s silent, and it’s awful. For me, awful. Single-camera comedies, for me, not fun.”

Curtis, 67, addressed the strong reactions to her comments in an Instagram post Aug. 11, explaining that she made the remarks while promoting her new NBC sitcom and comparing the experience of filming a multi-camera comedy in front of a live audience with working on a single-camera series like “New Girl.”

“As if we don’t have bigger issues facing Americans and the world at large and natural disasters and unnatural behaviors of despots than to be concerned about a flip comment picked up at a press moment promoting NEWLYWEDS @NBC.” Curtis wrote in her lengthy social media post. The Oscar-winning actress said she had been “gushing” about her new show, the multi-camera sitcom she co-created with Gail Lerner that stars Téa Leoni and Tim Daly. “We are having so much fun and the audiences are loving it,” Curtis wrote, explaining that performing in front of a studio audience is “almost like doing a play where you get immediate feedback.”

That experience, she said, is much different from performing comedy on a single-camera production, where actors don’t have a live audience responding to their jokes.

“I said it wasn’t my favorite experience although the show itself is fantastic and the team that made it are talented and that Zooey Deschanel is an absolute gem of a human and said I got to play with my friend, Rob Reiner, as exes and that was sweet and lovely,” the actress went on to explain on her post. Curtis ended her response by encouraging people not to read too much into the remarks. “So please, let’s not waste clicks and comments and just move on to WAY more important things. That will be all,” the actress wrote.

The “Freaky Friday” actress appeared in six episodes of “New Girl” across four seasons, beginning in 2012. She played Joan, Jess’s mother, opposite the late Rob Reiner, who portrayed Jess’s father, Bob Day.

During the NBC panel, Curtis also shared that she drew inspiration from her own 42-year marriage to Christopher Guest for her new show. The actress said that despite spending no more than 72 hours together at any given time before getting engaged, the couple decided to marry anyway.

“There wasn’t a lot of talking. And we married each other. We were strangers when we married,” the actress said. “There’s something really delicious about watching people figure out life when they are filled in a life with other people.”

Curtis is currently promoting her new series “Newlyweds,” in which she has a recurring role while also serving as an executive producer. The show, which stars real-life couple Leoni and Daly, is set to premier Oct 23 on NBC.
