Artist whose song is featured in Trump taxpayer-funded ad sends cease-and-desist order to White House

Attorneys for artist JMSN, whose song "Love Me" was used in one of President Trump's taxpayer-funded ads, have sent a cease-and-desist letter to White House chief of staff Susie Wiles demanding the Trump administration to stop using his song.

Attorneys for JMSN, real name Christian Berishaj, say the use of the song is a violation of federal Copyright Law. In an announcement, the attorneys demanded the White House withdraw the advertisement from all scheduled airings, to remove all online copies of the ad with the song, and to "provide a written accounting of every airing and online posting, including the date, time, network or station, market, program, and total media spend."

JMSN is represented by former White House ethics czar Norman Eisen, who served during former President Barack Obama's tenure. Eisen's group Democracy Defenders Action and Ballard Spahr LLP are also listed as Berishaj's representation. The news of the cease-and-desist letter was first reported by journalist Yashar Ali.
