Davis Webb went into the 2026 season as the play-caller for the Denver Broncos, but after just four weeks, he has officially been replaced. Sean Payton has decided to reclaim his role as the team's play-caller.
\n\nThe Broncos' head coach shared the news during his press conference on Thursday.
\n\n"We'll make a change offensively," Payton said. "I'll call the plays."
\n\nIt's not a total surprise that Payton has decided to go this route. The Broncos' offense has struggled at times this season, especially early in the game.
\n\nThe offense has gotten off to a slow start in all four games Denver has played. The Broncos only scored a total of 13 first-half points through four weeks, which is the fewest in the NFL. Even the hapless Dolphins (0-4) have had more first-half points (19) than the Broncos this year. The Broncos and Dolphins are the only two teams in the league that have scored under 20 total first-half points this season (To put Denver's struggles in perspective, the Broncos had scored 58 first-half points at this point last season).
