New Jersey goes three up, three down and wins Metro Regional

Mason Rincon saw three batters and got all three out to complete New Jersey’s comeback in the sixth inning. He struck out a batter and then there were two ground outs. The game ends 8-6 and New Jersey is headed to Williamsport.

New Jersey takes lead in 5th inning

Mason Rincon is still riding high. The New Jersey pitcher struck out the side to start the fifth inning.

Then, the New Jersey offense stepped up. Leandro Anaya was walked and then Gabriel Garcia Jr. hit a single for his third hit of the game. Connecticut used its automatic walk on Rincon to load the bases. Owen Feliz had a massive hit that bounced off the fence in left field to send two runs home and tie the game at 6-6.

Jett Bridges then stepped up to the plate and tapped the ball down the center of the field to bring Rincon home and give New Jersey its first lead 7-6.

Chase Klimkowski then hit a single to score another run and make the game 8-6.

Mason Rincon takes control for NJ in 4th inning

Mason Rincon knows how to ball.

The New Jersey player hasn’t gotten to show off at the plate much because he’s been intentionally walked both times he’s been at-bat. But after taking the mound in the fourth inning, his star power is evident. He got out all three batters he faced, grabbing a ground ball and forcing Rex Paquette out at first and then tossing two strikeouts.

For Connecticut, Chase Sutter reached his pitch limit after walking Connor Oliva. He received a loud ovation from the crowd when he was pulledm after throwing 9 strikeouts. Roscoe Hurty stepped in and struck out two batters to end the inning.

Connecticut hits home run in 3rd, New Jersey inches closer

Connecticut’s Chase Sutter is making an early case for game MVP.

To start the second inning, the pitcher hit a two-run home run. Hugh Butler got on base with a single then, for the next at-bat, Sutter smacked the ball deep into left field and it went over the fence. Connecticut is up 6-2.

In the bottom of the inning, New Jersey loaded the bases with a walk for Dex Zimmerman, a single from Gabriel Garcia and an intentional walk to Mason Rincon. Owen Feliz faced a full count with two outs and then hit the ball into centerfield. The defense wasn’t quick enough to get Rincon out at second and Zimmerman scored to bring the game 6-3.

Sutter then walked Jett Bridges with the bases loaded again, sending home another run and making the score 6-4.

Sutter rebounded by striking out New Jersey pitcher Chase Klimkowski to end the inning.

Connecticut maintains lead in 2nd inning with excellent pitching

Connecticut slowed down a bit in the top of the second inning. Johnny Huntington got on base with a single, but New Jersey pitcher Chase Klimkowski got a strikeout and then the next two batters were out with a ground ball and a fly ball.

Connecticut pitcher Chase Sutter is on fire and struck out the side for six straight Ks.

New Jersey starts to answer

New Jersey is not fazed by Connecticut’s early lead.

After Mason Rincon was intentionally walked, Owen Feliz had a big hit that sent Gabe Garcia and him home. The score is now 4-2.

Connecticut pitcher Chase Sutter then locked in and struck out the next three batters to end the first inning.

Connecticut on the board first in solid 1st inning

Hugh Butler got Connecticut going early! At the top of the first inning, he smacked the ball deep into right field for a triple that sent his teammate home. Connecticut is up 1-0.

Chase Sutter is walked and then Alex Abelson hits a ground ball between second and third base that brings Butler home and makes the score 2-0.

Jack Houlihan kept the party going with a ground ball that scores Sutter and Roscoe Hurty hits a fly ball that brings in Abelson. Connecticut is up 4-0 at the middle of the first inning.
