Flight 1779 from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to Miami International Airport was met by law enforcement upon arrival “due to a disruptive customer,” the carrier said. “The individual was removed from the aircraft,” American Airlines told USA TODAY in an emailed statement. “The safety and security of our customers and team members is our top priority. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and thank our crew members for their professionalism.”

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the disturbance happened in flight, which prompted MDSO to reach out to the FBI,” police said in an email. The FBI took over the investigation.
