Florida governor candidate Byron Donalds stands by Trump after some mentions of the president disappear from website

Some prominent references to President Trump were scrubbed from Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds' campaign website in recent weeks — but the Republican said Wednesday he isn't backing away from the president's agenda.

During an onstage interview at the Sunshine Economy Summit, Donalds said his campaign has "been working on website changes for, like, two months now." He said the changes are meant to reinforce the campaign's key policy themes ahead of the general election, including affordability.

"These are the issues we talk about every day on the campaign trail," he told Tom Hudson of public media organization WLRN. "For the general election, the voters of Florida want to know the policies you're going to implement to make their lives better. And so, we wanted to make sure that the website fully reflected the vision and the policies for the future of Florida."

Asked whether the changes suggest that he no longer intends to "enact the Trump agenda," a phrase that his campaign site previously listed as one of its top issues, Donalds said: "No, I think that's a separate question."
