Hair mousse recalled over explosion risk. See affected product
Anthony Thompson
Henkel Corporation is voluntarily recalling one of its Schwarzkopf Professional hair styling products sold in 12 states because of a packaging defect that could cause the aerosol can to leak and potentially explode under pressure.
The recall affects certain batches of Schwarzkopf Professional Osis Grip Extra Strong Mousse, 6.76-ounce (200 mL) cans, sold to salons and consumers in the United States, according to an Aug. 11 announcement published by the Food and Drug Administration.
Henkel said the issue stems from a potential packaging imperfection that may allow product to leak from the aluminum can under pressure, creating an explosion risk. The company said it has received one customer complaint and two reports from salons related to the issue. One customer reported bruising to a hand, and no other injuries have been identified.
Here’s what consumers need to know about this voluntary recall.
