ANAHEIM, Calif. — Pixar is still embracing sequels, giving a first look at “Incredibles 3,” “Coco 2” and more on Friday, Aug. 14 during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

At Disney’s fan convention, Pixar’s chief creative officer Pete Docter revealed that Violet and Dash will take center stage in “Incredibles 3” while Mr. Incredible himself grapples with his own relevance as superheroes become legalized after “Incredibles 2.”

Docter also shared more information about its upcoming movie lineup, including original films “Ono Ghost Market,” scheduled to release in theaters on March 10, 2028, as well as “Gatto.”

“Even though supers are legal again, doesn’t mean all supers are good. That’s right, an incredible thing apart, man, will face off against a super villain, with more power than all the family put together,” Docter said.

Docter said that directors Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina will return to co-direct “Coco 2,” set to release on Nov. 21, 2029.

Benjamin Bratt revealed that the “Coco” sequel will follow Miguel during his teenage years, who will face off with Ernesto de la Cruz. Bratt also revealed that the land of the dead will be coming to a new “Kingdom Hearts” video game and that a new “Kingdom Hearts” series will come in the future.

Docter previously confirmed “Incredibles 3” at the 2024 convention and the third “Monsters, Inc” film in a Wall Street Journal profile published in March. Meanwhile, former Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that “Coco 2” is coming to life during a 2025 shareholder meeting.

“While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart and adventure, and we can’t wait to share more soon,” Iger said at the time of the follow-up to the 2017 original Oscar-winning film.

Brad Bird, the super-genius writer and director behind the 2004 “Incredibles” and 2018 “Incredibles 2,” is back to helm the third film, slated for nationwide release on June 18, 2028.

“Monsters, Inc.” fans have nothing to fear as a third installment is underway though it’s unclear whether Docter, who helmed the original 2001 film, or Dan Scanlon, who directed the 2013 prequel “Monsters University” will direct. However, no new information regarding that sequel was shared at D23.
