After years in the eFootball wilderness, will Liga MX be back in the EA Sports FC world?

Not since the soccer game franchise was still called FIFA have Mexican clubs appeared with their official license. Liga MX announced a deal with Konami in 2022 to put the league exclusively in the Japanese video game maker’s products.

But that deal has run its course and Liga MX clubs are back in the EA FC universe for EA FC 27.

Signs started pointing that way in 2025 when eFootball announced the licensed names would be coming off the Mexican teams. And the league’s return to EA FC was confirmed in July, with the league putting out a video and a statement about its teams getting back in the game.

When will Liga MX teams be back in the EA FC video game series?

The hype is starting to build this week, with EA Sports revealing its best overall men’s and women’s players and also rolling out top players for various leagues – including Liga MX.

While player ratings will drop the afternoon of Aug. 20, gamers won’t be able to select their Liga MX club until the latest version of the game is released on Sept. 25 — with early access starting Sept. 18.

That is little time to wait for those gamers who have been waiting for five years to see their favorite Liga MX teams and players back in the EA offering.
