Judge blocks Trump ban on 3 news outlets, but reporters still denied White House access

Washington — A federal judge early Thursday morning temporarily blocked senior Trump administration officials from barring CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House, but journalists from all three outlets reported that they were still being denied entry hours later.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly granted a request from the three news outlets for temporary relief that reinstates their access to the White House grounds while they challenge President Trump's move to ban them from the complex because of their coverage of his administration.

It was unclear when the White House might reinstate access for CNN, MS NOW and Politico. All three outlets were still being denied entry to the grounds as of Thursday morning. Politico reported that one of its reporters was barred from the White House and had his press credential taken away. MS NOW and CNN also said some of their journalists were not allowed in.

Lawyers for the outlets informed the court that the reporters were turned away by Secret Service and requested an "immediate" hearing. They said they reached out to government lawyers Thursday morning but have not received a response.
