A suspect is in police custody after allegedly breaking in to Kim Kardashian‘s Calabasas home and taking her car for a joy ride.

Police arrested a 27-year-old man for burglary and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent after authorities responded to a call at the reality star‘s $60 million mansion in Los Angeles’ Hidden Hills neighborhood at around 4 p.m. local time Sunday, Aug. 9, a spokesperson for the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station confirmed to USA TODAY.

Security guards reportedly witnessed the man loading items into a white Lexus on the property and then driving the vehicle around, according to 911 audio obtained by The U.S. Sun.

The Skims founder, 45, and her family were not home at the time, as they have been living in a nearby rental while the the mansion is under renovations, per the California Post and TMZ.

Break in follows Kim Kardashian‘s 2016 robbery

This is not the first time the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star has been a victim of this type of crime. In 2016, a group of thieves entered a Paris apartment where Kardashian was staying disguised as police and robbed her of an estimated $10 million of jewelry at gunpoint.

She and Simone Harouche, her childhood friend and stylist, were alone in the apartment at the time while Kourtney Kardashian and Kim’s former assistant Stephanie Shepherd, who were also staying there, went out.

Kardashian later recalled the incident on her family’s Hulu series “The Kardashians,” explaining that she pleaded with the group of men to spare her life. When they found the jewelry, she said she heard one of the intruders “screaming in excitement.”

Kim Kardashian attends court for the trial over her 2016 robbery on May 13, 2025, in Paris.

Nine years later, in 2025, Kardashian traveled back to Paris to testify against the thieves in court. Eight of the 10 defendants were ultimately found guilty for crimes directly linked to the theft; another defendant was found guilty of illegal weapons charges, and one was acquitted.

The five who were direct participants in the heist received the harshest sentences, with 69-year-old ringleader Aomar Ait Khedache given three years in jail.

Kardashian reacted to the news in a statement at the time, saying, “I am deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case. The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family.

“While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all. I remain committed to advocating for justice, and promoting a fair legal system,” she concluded.
