Kourtney Kardashian is opening up about a painful chapter in her relationship with Travis Barker that the couple had previously kept private.

The couple revealed that Kardashian, 47, became pregnant about six months into her relationship with Barker, but suffered a miscarriage three months into the pregnancy. Kardashian and Barker shared details about the loss in his new documentary, “Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear,” which premiered Aug. 13 on Hulu.

Kardashian recalled how quickly things fell into place after she and Barker, 50, turned their long-term friendship into a romantic relationship in 2021. The couple learned they were expecting a baby girl and had already picked the name Tulip for the new addition to their family.

“Everything just made so much sense,” Kardashian said. “We were so happy.”

But during a doctor’s appointment, they received devastating news. “We go to the doctor and the doctor tells us the baby doesn’t have a heartbeat,” Barker recalled in the documentary.

The “Kardashians” star said the loss left the couple heartbroken. “When we lost the baby, we were devastated,” Kardashian said. “We just laid in bed and cried for days. All we wanted was to have a baby together.”

After the miscarriage, their doctor recommended in vitro fertilization (IVF), and Kardashian began a lengthy fertility journey that was documented on her family reality TV show, “The Kardashians.” The couple went on to try IVF five times over a span of eight months, an experience Kardashian recalled as being “so hard” on her body.

“It felt like my body was shutting down,” Kardashian said. “Each time we would try it, it just felt so disappointing. It really did something that messed with me mentally.”

After repeated disappointments, Kardashian ultimately decided she could no longer continue with IVF, telling Barker: “If God has a baby in store for us, it will happen naturally.”

A year after stopping IVF, Kardashian became pregnant naturally and the couple welcomed their son, Rocky Thirteen Barker, in November 2023.

The Blink-182 drummer explained why he and Kardashian decided to publicly discuss a loss they had previously kept out of the spotlight. During an appearance on The New York Times’ “Popcast,” the musician said sharing experiences that could help others feel less alone was important to them. “Our journey of miscarriages and then IVF and it’s failed, resulting in us having a baby naturally – like I feel like that’s a story that so many people can relate [to],” Barker said.
