Live updates: Trump to speak at the U.N. General Assembly

A federal appeals court yesterday introduced a new wrinkle into the convoluted fight over whether Republicans can use a new congressional map in November’s election, as the GOP tries to eliminate one of the state’s two Democratic House districts.

The St. Louis-based 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered that the new map drawn last year should be used this fall, even though the Supreme Court has already twice rejected Republicans on the issue in recent weeks and had apparently put the issue to bed.

Once a premier presidential swing state, Ohio morphed into a solidly red state in the last three national elections. But this year is a bit of a throwback, with the Senate contest between appointed Republican Sen. Jon Husted and former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown re-establishing the battleground bona fides of the Buckeye State.

The race looms large in the fight for Senate control.
