NBA YoungBoy is saying goodbye to the United States and hello to South Korea.

The Louisiana-born rapper, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, revealed that he has relocated to South Korea and has no plans to move back to the U.S. He explained his reason for that decision during his Aug. 11 appearance on comedian Funny Marco’s “Open Thoughts” podcast, which was also filmed in South Korea.

When Funny Marco asked the 26-year-old rapper if he would ever move back to America, YoungBoy made his intentions clear.

“Never in my life,” the “Try So Hard” artist responded.

Youngboy, who has at least 11 children (or as many as 13, according to the Los Angeles Times) and has been married to influencer Jazlyn Mychelle since 2023, also opened up about his future, which may see him retiring from music after “one or two” more albums.

“I’ll go on tour one more time throughout my whole life, and that’s it,” he shared during the podcast.

Although he has no plans to move back to the U.S., the “Outside Today” emcee acknowledged that the “most important” thing tying him to his home country is his children. “I don’t have a problem with being away; it’s nothing new for me,” he said. “The most important thing is probably my kids, but that’s what they have planes for.”

The rapper’s relocation abroad comes after a turbulent few years marked by legal troubles, incarceration and, most recently, a return to touring.

President Donald Trump pardoned YoungBoy in May 2025 after the rapper had been sentenced to just under two years in prison on federal gun-related charges. YoungBoy had acknowledged possessing firearms despite being a convicted felon and also pleaded guilty in a separate Utah pharmacy drug fraud case. The presidential pardon relieved him of his remaining federal probation obligations.

YoungBoy also opened up about his health issues, revealing that he learned while touring that the left side of his heart was swollen. “I never told nobody. I just kept doing every show,” the star said, adding that he completed the tour despite the health issues. He did not disclose a specific diagnosis or details about any treatment he may be receiving but said his heart remains enlarged.
