Starbucks brings back iconic, sparkly drink, but only this weekend
Starbucks is bringing back an iconic beverage, but only for a weekend.
The Unicorn Frappuccino blended beverage will return to Starbucks coffeehouses around the world for one weekend to close out the summer, starting Saturday, Aug. 15, the company announced in a news release back in July.
The popular, colorful beverage first debuted as a limited-time item in 2017 and popped up earlier this summer at the Coachella Music Festival, according to Starbucks. The drink went viral in 2017 for its pink and blue swirls, color-changing qualities and “unicorn dust” topping.
According to Starbucks, the drink features a sweet-and-tart blend of creamy mango flavors, tangy blue drizzle, whipped cream and pink and blue topping. “A swirl of the cup reveals color-changing enchantment and a transformation of flavors,” Starbucks said.
The drink will be available in one size – grande (16-ounce) – with limited customizations, Starbucks said.
To celebrate the return of the drink, Starbucks is asking fans to “break out their brightest colors, sparkles and most whimsical accessories” and come dressed up as their “best unicorn-inspired self” to share on social media.
Starbucks announces Pumpkin Spice Latte return date
The Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL) has become an annual rite of late summer since Starbucks introduced the beverage in 2003. Over the past two decades, customers have looked forward to the PSL’s return.
This year, the PSL and the rest of Starbucks’ fall menu arrive in coffeehouses on Tuesday, Aug. 25, according to the coffee chain.
Starbucks also said it is bringing back an “expanded lineup of new pumpkin spice drinks” this fall, including a new Iced Pumpkin Cream Shaken Espresso, a new Pumpkin Spice Chai and Iced Pumpkin Cream Matcha. Returning favorites such as the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai and Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino will also be available beginning Aug. 25.
