Eight weeks into the NFL season, there are no longer any undefeated teams. The Detroit Lions’ 19-15 win Sunday over Minnesota ended the Vikings’ (6-1) unbeaten start.

Minnesota’s loss also ended its 11-game winning streak in the regular season, dating to last season, which was the NFL’s longest active streak. A win Sunday would have tied the franchise’s longest all-time win streak from 1969.

The Vikings trailed 12-7 entering the fourth quarter after a 30-yard run by Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, the NFL’s leader in touchdowns. Minnesota took back the lead with 3:56 to play in the fourth quarter when T.J. Hockensen’s eight-yard touchdown pass from Kyler Murray was followed by a successful two-point conversion for a 15-12 advantage.

Detroit scored the go-ahead touchdown four minutes later, after a long drive was ended by a 7-yard touchdown catch by Jameson Williams. Minnesota’s attempt to take the lead back ended meekly, after their next possession lasted just three plays and traveled five yards before a punt.

Offensive struggles have plagued the Vikings all season. Despite their 6-0 start, they entered Sunday ranked in the bottom third of the league in scoring average and their 281 yards per game ranked fourth-fewest.
