The Rams were able to run the clock out after receiving an onside kick from the Chiefs. Los Angeles is 1-0 in the preseason after the win.

They were led by former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson who threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores were passes thrown to Dean Connors. He finished with four catches, 29 yards and two touchdowns.

Their next game is against the New Orleans Saints on Aug. 22.

The Chiefs tried three different play-callers against LA. Justin Fields started the game and went 4-for-4 on 41 yards with a 109.4 passer rating. Next, was rookie quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who had the bulk of attempts going 13-for-19 for 98 yards. He was sacked twice and had a 80.6 rating. The last quarterback to get reps was Chris Oladokun who went 5-for-11 and 63 yards, with a 63.8 rating.

Emmett Johnson had 12 carries for 59 yards. The Chiefs scored four field goals from Harrison Butker.

Their next game is Aug. 22 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Chiefs make it one-possession game after field goal

The Kansas City Chiefs were able to march down field in response to the Rams touchdown. However, to preserve time, the Chiefs settled on their fourth field goal of the game, bringing Harrison Butker back out. He connected on the 26-yard field goal to cut the Rams lead to eight. The Chiefs hope to get the ball back and score a touchdown, plus two-point conversion as there is only 1:58 is left in the game.

The Chiefs trailed 20-12.

Rams’ Ty Simpson throws 2nd touchdown

Los Angeles Rams rookie quarterback Ty Simpson is finding a groove in the second half. Simpson threw his second touchdown of the game, finding Dean Connors again. This time it was a two-yard pass to the middle as the Rams took a 20-9 lead with 6:32 left in the game.

Simpson has completed 21-of-25 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

Rams defense looked to maintain the lead that the offense got them. They had two major pass break ups, one nearly an interception, that ultimately led to the Chiefs punting the ball on fourth down, giving the Rams offense another opportunity to extend the lead.

It took a while but the first touchdown came in the fourth quarter as the Los Angeles Rams scored after quarterback Ty Simpson found running back Dean Connors in the flat who ran for nine yards and a score. The Rams took a 13-9 lead wit h 12:37 remaining in the game.

The Rams and Chiefs went back and forth trading field goals, however Chiefs kicked one more than the Rams. At the end of the 3rd quarter, the Chiefs led 9-6.

Another Chiefs field goal to put Kansas City up

The Chiefs went 46 yards on 11 plays and settled for a 59-yard field goal to go ahead 9-6 with 3:52 left in the 3rd quarter. It was Harrison Butker’s third field goal of the contest.

The second half between the Rams and Chiefs is officially underway.

At the half, the Rams and Chiefs are tied, 6-6. Both teams have struggled to get the ball rolling offensively, a credit to both team’s defenses. However, there have been promising sights for both teams. The Rams have had a steady game with 156 offensive yards, but the Chiefs started getting warmed up in the second quarter.

The picked up the momentum with long drives, getting downfield, but were unable to turn those possessions into 6. Instead they settled for three, twice.

Ty Simpson, the Rams No. 13 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft out of Alabama, has thrown for 74 yards on 9-for-11 passing. On the other side, the defense has forced three tackles for loss and two QB hits.

For the Chiefs, Garrett Nussmeier went 12-for-16 throwing 94 yards. He looked good as the Chiefs offense looked like they were warming up when he entered the game.

Chiefs quarterback Justin Fields went 4-for-4 for 41 yards. He also added 9 rush yards on two attempts.

Chiefs offense looks to roll, but settle for another FG

The Chiefs offense was starting to warm up after going 42 yards in 10 plays, but they left points on the board.

Rookie quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, out of LSU, is getting some snaps under center and has thrown for 94 yards on 12-of-16 passing. He left a score on the board, overthrowing a receiver who just beat his defender, too far into the endzone.

Instead, the Chiefs take a 3-and-out and settle for a 35-yard field goal from Harrison Butker with 34 seconds left. The Chiefs knotted the game at 6-6.

Los Angeles responds to the Kansas City field goal with one of their own. It took seven plays to go 42 yards and settle for three points. Harrison Mevis chipped in a 40-yard field goal. Rams led 6-3.

Chiefs touchdown called back, settle for field goal

Chiefs running back Emmett Johnson scored a touchdown but a holding call was called and waived off the score. Instead, they elect to settle for a 37-yard field goal from kicker Harrison Butker to tie the game, 3-3, with 7:43 in the second quarter.

The Los Angeles Rams defensive back Alex Cook was injured on a play at the 11:45 mark of the second quarter.

The Rams have a 3-0 advantage over the Chiefs after the first 15 minutes of play. Harrison Mevis connected on a 25-yard field goal with 3:25 left in the first quarter.

The Chiefs haven’t been able to advance the ball very often. They only got two first downs in three offensive possessions. They are led under center by Justin Fields. He’s connected on all his attempts in the opening period going 4-for-4 with 41 yards.

Los Angeles broke the game’s scoring drought first. They drove 73 yards down the field in 13 plays to settle for a 25-yard field goal by Rams kickers Harrison Mevis. Rams led 3-0 with 3:25 in the 1st quarter.

The Los Angeles Rams had the first possession. They punted after three plays, going 7 yards. They punted to the Kansas City Chiefs who only advanced 16 yards in five plays. They gave the ball back to LA after a punt.

Rams improve already successful roster

The Rams went into the offseason finding ways to improve and they did so by getting the best defensive player in football. LA exercised a trade sending Jared Verse and draft picks to the Cleveland Browns for Myles Garrett. To beef up their defense even more, there are rumors that Aaron Donald could come out of retirement to join the squad. He’s already been working out with them. The Rams also added cornerback Trent McDuffie in a trade with the Chiefs.

Rams Injuries, latest on Puka Nacua

Offensively, their biggest note has been the health of their star wide receiver Puka Nacua, who will miss the preseason game against the Titans with a groin injury. He could be out to start the regular season in Melbourne, Australia against the San Francisco 49ers due to apossible NFL suspension. In other news, the Rams are committed to Matthew Stafford, despite drafting Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson.
