Tyler Perry explains why marriage is not a ‘good idea for me’

Marriage isn't in the cards for Tyler Perry, not now or ever.

During a Sept. 14 appearance on "The Jennifer Hudson Show," the media mogul made it clear that walking down the aisle won't be part of his future. When host Jennifer Hudson, 45, asked Perry, 57, if he would ever get married, he responded "nope" without hesitation.

"It's not the marriage that bothers me, it’s the divorce. Everybody that I know that did well and went broke, it was because of a divorce. So, I’m good just being free," he explained.

Hudson even offered to sing at his wedding, breaking out in song, but the "Madea" actor was unmoved: "No."

"… What makes me think about marriage is, 'You’re no good, heartbreaker. You’re a liar. You’re a cheat. I don’t know why I let you do these things to me.' That's what I think about," Perry added.

Perry, the creative force behind the "Why Did I Get Married?" film franchise, offered more clarity on "Today with Jenna & Sheinelle," citing age and his desire to slow down as reasons for not wanting to marry.
