Salahdine Parnasse waited long enough to join the UFC. He has no intention of wasting time now that he's here. Parnasse made a swift statement in Paris, knocking out Dan Hooker in his UFC debut on Saturday.

Hooker delighted in playing the "villain" in Paris, promising to deliver a reality check to Parnasse's "fairytale" UFC debut. It turned out that Hooker was only worthy of a cameo in the French hero's story. Parnasse exceeded the lofty expectations that come with debuting in a UFC main event, especially on a UFC Fight Night in Paris, which has become an annual destination for the promotion.

Kicks were almost exclusively thrown in their short fight. The most significant was Parnasse's liver kick, which sparked the fight-ending sequence. Hooker keeled over from the effect of the body blow, but managed to stay upright. Parnasse grazed him with a head kick before following up with a left hook that put him on the mat. The referee intervened after Parnasse landed a few follow-up ground strikes.
