McDonald’s has a new Happy Meal with a pop culture mash-up you probably didn’t see coming.

The new Hello Kitty & Friends x Godzilla Happy Meal, coming to McDonald’s starting Tuesday, Aug. 18, has one of eight toys interfusing Hello Kitty characters and monsters from the Godzilla movies.

The KittyZilla Happy Meal, according to McDonald’s menu spotter website, is “the ultimate crossover where Kawaii meets Kaiju, making friends at first bite and proving that even the mightiest monsters have a soft side.”

A kawaii creature exudes cuteness à la Hello Kitty, a character – it’s a little girl, not a cat – created in 1974 by Japanese entertainment company Sanrio. “Kaiju” references giant monsters such as featured in Japanese films and TV, according to the Oxford English Dictionary.

Godzilla first appeared in the 1954 Japanese filmi “Gojira,” which was adapted for the 1956 Americanized film, “Godzilla, King of the Monsters.”

What are the new Hello Kitty & Friends x Godzilla Happy Meal toys?

McDonald’s begins offering the new Hello Kitty & Friends x Godzilla Happy Meal on Tuesday, Aug. 18, for a limited time at participating restaurants nationwide.

Guillaume Huin, who leads global brand strategy for McDonald’s, hinted at the toys by posting a teaser video and image on X on Aug. 10. “One of the best collections of Happy Meal toys I’ve ever seen is about to drop at McDonald’s US. Hall of fame collectibles in the making,” he wrote.

Here are the eight toys available:

  • Hello Kitty x Godzilla
  • Kuromi x Mechagodzilla
  • Melody x Mothra
  • Keroppi x Ghidorah
  • Pompom x Gigan
  • Batz x Rodan
  • Chococat x SpaceGodzilla
  • Coinnamaroll x Destroya
The new Hello Kitty & Friends x Godzilla Happy Meal, available nationwide at McDonald's starting Tuesday, Aug. 18, includes one of eight toys that bring together Hello Kitty characters and Godzilla's legendary movie monsters.
