Mark Consuelos to undergo ‘major surgery’ after putting it off for a year

Mark Consuelos will undergo surgery for a lengthy toe issue.

The "Live with Kelly and Mark" cohost said live on the broadcast Friday, Sept. 25, that he was headed to the procedure right after the show.

"I've been putting off this toe surgery for about a year," he said.

Wife and cohost Kelly Ripa confirmed she would be joining Consuelos, 55, prompting "awws" from the crowd, before she said she was "not resisting the opportunity to video capture you coming out of your propofol haze." She added, "I have you on video from your last foot surgery."

Consuelos admitted he was "a little loopy right now" since he had not eaten since the day before, a pre-surgery instruction Ripa, 55, called "really strange."

"I've never heard of fasting for 24 hours before a surgery," she said.

Consuelos then decided to read an article to Ripa about "ways to care for loved ones after a surgery." One was "take over some of their responsibilities," which Ripa joked she would "continue to do that."

Later, Consuelos said he was undergoing the surgery due to arthritis and pain in his toe, and "so I can play golf better."

Ripa was still hung up…
