R&B singer Keke Wyatt arrested for terroristic threats, cruelty to children

R&B singer Keke Wyatt is facing multiple serious charges after being arrested in Georgia.

Wyatt, 44, was booked into the Henry County jail Sunday, Sept. 20, for terroristic threats, simple assault and cruelty to children, a rep for the Henry County Sheriff's Office confirmed to USA TODAY on Sept. 25. She was released on $1,050 bond after spending two days behind bars.

The circumstances surrounding the musician's arrest remain unclear, but the cruelty to children charge is listed as 3rd Degree Witness offense – a misdemeanor. Under Georgia law, this is when a person, who is the primary aggressor, knowingly allows a minor to witness or be present while an act of violence is being committed.

USA TODAY reached out to a representative for Wyatt for comment.

This comes nearly 25 years after Wyatt was indicted on second-degree assault for stabbing her then-husband Rahmat Morton, who was also her manager. At the time, she said she acted in self defense, and the case was ultimately dismissed.

Wyatt later addressed the incident and opened up about being in an abusive relationship with Morton in a 2012 interview with Essence.
